We are not the same persons this year as last; nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we, changing, continue to love a changed person.
-W. Somerset Maugham
Every few years in Second Life I love to make a new Avatar. I usually try out new things such role-playing or mesh creating. And yes, I was able to get the names Khaleesi and Daenerys with last names! I really like having characters with different names. Most of my avatars were created before we had the option of creating a display name. My very first avatar is named Kitty Lefay. When I created her I picked that name mainly because I like Kitty Pryde from the X-men! That name was fun at first; but as I had got older, more and more people started wanting to put a sexual connotation to it. I just did not want to keep the name. When I take a look around there are 100’s of kitty’s running around the grid. This certainly was not the case in 2003. I yearned for a name a bit more unique. Ironically I still have friends from 2003 that call me kitty! Of course, my avatars are never a secret, I always tell everyone that needs to know who I am playing. Plus given the people that I talk to, they can’t hold water. (I love yall but it’s true). They will tell everyone who I am anyway. It is refreshing for me to have an avatar with a totally clean inventory and not be burdened with the task of sorting items. I have played Second Life for 15 years so I really do have a lot of items. Typically I like to use 2 avatars at a time. I have one main Avatar that I use for socializing and I have a male avatar. I find the male avatar crucial for displaying couples animations in my videos. Over the past 15 years, I have given away 11 accounts with last names. I have never used an alt to spy, cheat in SL relationships, or hide from anyone except for the 2 years when I was stalked in real life by a guy in SL. I have pretty much given away all of my alts. I honestly just like making new avatars. Now things are different, making new avatars is extremely expensive! You can spend over 50 US dollars just to put an avatar together with one outfit. Over time I have become extremely attached to a lot of items and I don’t want to have to go from Avatar to Avatar to Rez them. I honestly would not recommend making a new Avatar unless you absolutely have to.Creating alts is way too expensive.

After a long day of video editing and shopping, it’s time to sit down for a relaxing drink. I headed over to Cafe Nowhere, where I indulged on snacks and coffee. I’m just kidding, it was hot chocolate, in the middle of spring! I don’t like coffee!
